January 2007: Maartje Nillesen has won the poster award at the First Dutch Biomedical Engineering Conference in Egmond aan Zee.
During the poster session she was selected with two other researchers from 100 other submissions. In the final she gave a splendid presentation and consequently she was chosen by the audience as winner of the award. The award comes with a cheque and a certificate. Maartje presented here work on automated segmentation of the left ventricle in echocardiographic images of children. She develops a technique that is capable of segmenting cardiac ultrasound images of children born with a congenital heart disease.
