June 2008: Richard Lopata has won the Young Investigator Award of the European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology.
During the YIA session at the Euroson 2008 conference held in Timisoara, Rumania, he presented his work on 3D cardiac strain imaging as the representative of the Dutch Societyu for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology. He had to compete with nominees from Germany, United Kingdom, Italy and Rumania.Richard developed an algorithm to estimate the strain of the cardiac muscle in 3 dimensions with great accuracy. The award comes with a certificate and a cheque.
