Liver steatosis (fatty liver) quantification using ultrasound imaging is a new tool incorporated by all major vendors. However, the problem is that the different implementations result in different steatosis values. To synchronize these systems, the Quantitative Imaging Biomarker Alliance (QIBA, sponsored by RSNA and NIH) has setup a worldwide program to test these systems using calibrated values.
At MUSIC, we tested 8 different ultrasound systems from almost all major vendors. Since we had to test on 4 phantoms by 2 observers at different imaging depths and repeat these tests after 2 days, a total number of 7.500 measurements were performed.
These blinded measurements were sent to the QIBA consortium and will be combined with all other measurements performed by 25 other testing sites.
